Support UNICEF on International Day of the Girl

by UNICEF USA

October 11th marks International Day of the Girl, a key global moment to celebrate girls everywhere, amplifying their voices, actions and leadership. It is a day that belongs to everyone who cares about girls and their rights.

Girls around the world continue to face unprecedented challenges to their education, their physical and mental wellness, and the protections needed for a life without violence. UNICEF is partnering with girl-led groups and networks to work towards a world where girls’ voices are not only heard, but acted upon – in policymaking, programming and humanitarian response. In 2023:
- Across 48 countries, 11 million adolescent girls benefited from care interventions to prevent child marriage
- 23 million people were reached with gender-based violence interventions in emergencies in 77 countries
- In humanitarian settings, UNICEF water interventions reached 21.8 million girls and women, while sanitation programs reached 5.5 million
- 7.9 million women and adolescent girls were reached with programs to address menstrual health and hygiene

This International Day of the Girl, you can help UNICEF continue its efforts to accelerate gender equality and empower girls. Together, we can ensure opportunities for girls around the globe.
