UNICEF USA is proud to partner with Nova Ukraine, a Ukrainian Diaspora organization based in Palo Alto, CA, whose mission has been dedicated to providing humanitarian aid and raising awareness about Ukraine in the United States and the rest of the world since 2014. Together, we will provide life-saving assistance to children and families in Ukraine and those fleeing to neighboring countries.
The humanitarian crisis in Ukraine is having a devastating impact on children and their families. Hundreds of thousands of people are fleeing their homes to find safety in other parts of the country or across Ukraine’s borders. As of April 18, over 4.9 million people have crossed into Poland, Romania, Moldova and other countries, and millions more have been displaced. This massive displacement could constitute one of the largest refugee situations since World War II. UNICEF, together with partners, is at the forefront of the humanitarian response in eastern Ukraine and continues to provide essential services to war-stricken children and families.
The war in Ukraine poses an immediate and growing threat to the lives and well-being of the country’s 7.5 million children. Reports show that since the start of the war, a child has become a refugee every single second. Over 100 children have been injured or killed in Ukraine to date and many more will likely be impacted by psychological trauma.
With your support, UNICEF can continue scaling-up its ongoing humanitarian response in Ukraine:
• $45 could provide a family with an emergency water, sanitation, and hygiene kit
• $75 could pay for school supplies to help at least 20 children continue their education
• $120 could provide clean drinking water with 16,000 water purification tablets
• $150,000 can establish a Blue Dot (child friendly) center to support 3,000-5,000 to supply children and mothers with vital supplies for one month (an additional $15,000 could maintain a center for an additional month)
