The Autonomia project is a fund provided to women leaving shelters and to women who end their path of exit from violence, specifically dedicated to covering the costs of deposit, the first months of rent, activation and first users such as water or power bills, the purchase of essential appliances or furnishings and any other expenses useful for the path of hausing and economic autonomy.
One of the main problems facing women when the path, support, and protection in the shelter comes to an end, is to have at their disposal a minimum of financial resources to draw on in order to start their new life. It is not enough to feel freer and stronger, or perhaps to have a paid work – although often precarious and insufficient – and not always the support that can be activated with the network of territorial social services is sufficient to guarantee the coverage of all the expenses necessary to set up a home.
The contribution, equal to about € 3,500 for each requesting woman, is paid following the evaluation of the individualized project of the woman (anonymously) with the reconstruction of the history and the path activated with the Anti-Violence Center on the territory and on the basis of a detailed estimate of the expenses deemed useful and necessary.
