Donne in Rete contro la violenza: Shelter Fund
Supporting women survivors of violence in Italy with financial assistance to build their futures

Supported by Gucci and CHIME FOR CHANGE, Donne in Rete contro la violenza (D.i.Re) is a network of independent women’s shelters and centers in Italy that prevent violence against women and provide counseling and support services to women survivors.
When the path to escape from violence requires the safety of women in the shelter, their life often becomes a “half-life.” The support of women guests of the shelters and centers has important costs for the organizations: choosing which activities to finance and which not becomes a must.
In the shelter house, women often have to give up activities that are common to everyone: reading a book, being able to buy an item of clothing, playing sports, subscribing to the theatre, buying a PC. The soul nourishment that simple but essential activities such as these can give to women deserves an organizational effort and requires an economic contribution.
Goal: To support the women guests of the shelters in their personal path of building their future and their freedom, through financial support for recreational, study and professionalization activities.
Who can access the Fund: All the organizations belonging to the D.i.Re network. Each can report only one individual project, to guarantee a territorial distribution of the contribution. Each request will be evaluated, and the sum will be disbursed until resources are exhausted.
What expenses does the Fund cover?
The following are accepted:
- purchase of books, computers, subscriptions to magazines, theaters, etc.
- enrollment in sporting or cultural activities for women or their sons and daughters
- medical expenses
- baby sitting
- vacation
- professional training
