Donne in Rete contro la violenza

Established on September 29, 2008, Donne in Rete contro la violenza - D.i.Re is the first Italian association of non-institutional anti-violence centers managed by women's organizations.

D.i.Re represents 82 organizations that manage over 100 anti-violence centers and dozens of shelter houses throughout the Italian territory. D.i.Re works with the aim of constructing national actions to combat the phenomenon of gender-based violence and promoting the elimination of violence against women.

D.i.Re addresses the issue of male violence against women from the perspective of gender difference, that is, placing the roots of this violence in the historical, but still current, disparity of power between men and women in the different social areas.
For this reason, the work of the anti-violence centers gathered in the network is divided into two main strands: on the one hand, support for women victims of violence, including emergency reception in shelters and safe housing, often together with their children, psychological and legal assistance, accompaniment in social reintegration also through economic and work support; on the other hand, the work of raising awareness and training, advocacy and institutional collaboration, aimed at changing the socio-cultural context that favors, legitimizes or condones violence against women and to counter the re-victimization, during the processes, of the women they denounce.
