Supporting locally led technology solutions for stronger feminist movements around the world

About Global Fund for Women
Global Fund for Women envisions a world in which movements for gender justice have transformed power and privilege for a few into equity and equality for all. They fund bold, ambitious, and expansive gender justice movements to create meaningful change that will last beyond our lifetimes.
Around the world, vibrant social movements are thriving as activists use digital platforms to drive conversations, spur action, and reshape social realities. However, a significant funding gap exists for groups focused on women, girls, and historically marginalized individuals who are at the forefront of creating and using technology. Additionally, the rise of online organizing has exposed feminist groups to unprecedented levels of harassment, cyber-attacks, surveillance, and censorship, emphasizing the urgent need for digital capacity strengthening and risk mitigation for feminist activists and networks.
In response, Global Fund for Women is on an ambitious journey to transform the way we use technology and data to support gender justice movements. As a co-lead for UN Women’s Generation Equality Forum Action Coalition on Technology and Innovation, they have made bold commitments to increase investments in feminist technology and are currently launching two innovative digital tools aimed at democratizing access to online data and expanding power, impact, and influence of gender justice movements.
About the Project
The project will provide direct grants to four feminist organizations—Fondo Semillas in Mexico, ELAS Fund in Brazil, HER Fund in Hong Kong, and the Mediterranean Women's Fund in the Mediterranean region—to support and strengthen their technology capacity and infrastructure. In addition, Global Fund for Women will collaborate with Numun Fund, the first feminist tech fund based in the Global South, to strengthen the digital systems of these four organizations. With your support, in the year ahead Global Fund for Women will be able to strengthen their digital capacities and advance innovative feminist technology.
